Muffin and I found Wallaroo in terrible shape on Sunday, with serious trees down every 50 yards on our favourite trails. Make sure you watch this video before riding there anytime soon, because you'll need these skills more than your riding ones.

Toolman and I rode in Wallaroo today. After all the rain and two potentially serious mechanicals straight out of the car, we felt blessed to be on our bikes. Getting to high ground was the priority, and in Wallaroo this means Gilmore Hill.
Thunderbolts climb was wet, rocky, rutty - and exhilarating! I found myself climbing at maximum rate, conscious of my body yelling at me but mentally pushing that yelling into the background as I picked a line through the wet chunder. Familiar muscles balanced and adjusted the ride while others projected me forward at the challenge.
